Role Summary

Severn Trent Green Power operate a three lines of defence compliance model and the Compliance Delivery Officers role sits within the Operations Compliance Team which makes up the first line of defence. Its purpose is to support and maintain the company’s operational compliance framework. The CDO’s role and core responsibilities are focused around “on the ground” support and delivery of legislative regulatory operational compliance requirements and standards to the Operations and wider business areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Site Managers with implementing and creating documented procedural changes through the creation of work instructions or standard operating procedures and ensure they are kept current and up to date.
  • Auditing, checking, arranging, and booking operational training courses and updating files and records.
  • Maintain effective filing system for all operational site documentation and records.
  • Assist Site Managers to ensure all statutory paperwork is up to date and relevant.
  • Assist Site Managers in the protection of the environment to prevent pollution from site activities, in compliance with the Environmental Permit.
  • Complete COSHH assessments and maintain COSHH documentation, processes, and procedures.
  • Carry out and complete systems, process and operational site audits and inspections. Create audit close-out action plans and circulate to Site Managers and Supervisors, work with Site teams and Managers to agree actions and accountabilities to fully close out any regulatory, systems, standards training, process gaps etc.
  • Ensure all required maintenance, monitoring, inspection, testing, and remedial work is completed and fully evidenced.
  • Complete routine health and safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and assisting with implementing agreed areas for improvement whilst working with the site teams to actively promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Monitor completion and review of risk assessments, method statements, permits to works and all associated Health & Safety procedures and standards.
  • Assist the Site Managers with accident and near miss investigation, reporting and documentation.
  • Keep accurate records of all site Inspections – including outcomes and actions, updating planners and schedules, to inform any necessary parties both internally and externally of any changes.
  • Monitor any changes or potential changes in legislation which may impact on the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Control compliance matrices.
  • Work with the site teams and site managers to write and review work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure they are kept up to date and current.
  • Ensure control of contractors and permit to work system is monitored.

Key Requirements

  • Worked within Health and Safety
  • Experience of Regulators (EA, HSE)
  • NEBOSH General Certification, HSE
  • Knowledge of EA Permits, Deployments, landspreading activities etc
  • PAS Standards for 100/110
  • Knowledge of APHA Requirements
  • Experience of Business Management Systems (ISO)
  • Financial budget control
