Role Summary
The purpose of the Dual Site Level 2 Green Waste Operative is to report to the Green Waste Manager and divide your time between the two sites as instructed to support the operation. This is a ‘hands-on’ role requiring the daily operation of composting technology, plant and machinery within the Green Waste Sites. Built to service Oxfordshire County and West Oxfordshire District Councilsthese are 2 of the 5 Green Waste sites that support producing a number of premium grade compost products which are used by local farmers, commercial gardeners and our local communities.
The Dual Site Level 2 Green Waste Operative is expected to be an ambassador of the company through championing the Severn Trent Green Power Values and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance with the Environmental Permit (Site Licence) ABPR, PAS 100, BMS and the Health and Safety and Welfare of all people on site.
- Maintenance of the plant and equipment ensuring daily weekly monthly checks are completed
- Ensure that the plant operates efficiently and effectively, meeting all throughput requirements
- Following all Health and Safety process and safe systems of work
- Keeping required records, in respect of all compliance, operations, maintenance and procedures
- Understanding the varied aspects to the role and being part of a team.
Key Requirements
- Loading Shovel certificate or proven capability
- Knowledge of composting & environmental process
- Knowledge of working safely, including fire safety
- Worked within a Management System
- Shredder/Screen experience*
- 1st Aid an advantage
- Relevant Pesticide certificate (PA1;PA9;PA6) an advantage
- Mechanical aptitude
- Computer literate
- Agricultural background desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labour as required
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment used in waste management operations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skills to work as part of a team
