Stoke Bardolph AD plant was Severn Trent's first crop AD plant. The plant processes a variety of agricultural crops generating 5.6MW of energy and producing an excellent bio-fertiliser which is spread to land.
The plant processes a variety of agricultural crops from adjacent farmland which has been used for the safe recycling of sewage sludge for over 120 years. The land potentially contains elevated levels of heavy metals and this places certain restrictions on what the land can be used, but it is extremely fertile and is suitable for the cultivation of maize for energy recovery.
